How receptive are you? How receptive am I? A tricky question we don’t ask ourselves often enough. The quality of taking in and receiving is being receptive to all life has to offer us. We often say no to life without even realizing it. Mother Nature never says no to life, she is life. We are the energetic force of life, living breathing receptors that have the ability to receive great abundance. When I speak of abundance, I am speaking of the flow of good into all areas of our lives. By remaining in harmony we become receptive, allowing our greater good to come to us.
I don’t know about you, but I have found that by my own efforts alone, I dilute my power to fully live the life I desire and dream of. When I make powerful conscious choices to set up my future, I am then able to hand the details over to my perfected self, my higher self who knows exactly how to bring to me what I want and at exactly the right time. My job is to stay out of the way by remaining harmonious and receptive to my good. There are seen and unseen forces in the Universe that can go to work for us in ways we can’t imagine. I can tell you that when I use these Universal Laws and Principles, they work. Test it out for yourself, take a little test drive. If we want change, we have to be open and receptive!
We need to become receptive listeners who are open and responsive to what comes our way. That is part of harmony. When we are stressed, in a hurry or shut down to listening, it is hard to feel and hear the messages the heart is sending us in its infinite love, wisdom and power. We have been trained to behave in a certain way since birth to survive in the world as we know it. It’s not easy to re-train yourself to remain harmonious in a world full of chaos, but there is another world out there waiting for those who do.
Be receptive to the beauty of life. There has always been human suffering simply because of the choices people make. When we are unreceptive to love and its family, only sadness, regret and fear can occupy that space. By making the choice to live in and from the heart, you remain open and receptive to your highest and greatest good. We must take a stand if we want change, because we are the change-makers and each decision we make matters. Receptivity is a superpower, and so are you!
“Not only do your thoughts and words and actions affect others in an obvious way, but they also have an impact far beyond any that you might have intended. And, to complete the concept of the Golden Rule, what you send out will come back to you, so the actions you take or the words you speak or the thoughts you conceive should be ones that you feel comfortable returning to you, for they inevitably will.” ~Lessons from the Source by Jack Armstrong
Think of the creatures of the woodlands and forests as your soul; they are pure, shy creatures that only reveal themselves when they feel safe and in harmony with your physical presence. Crash your way through the undergrowth and you will see and hear nothing of nature and her companions, but sit quietly still and wait patiently for a while and you will gradually be able to sense their presence. Wait a little longer and you will tune into your environment and begin to hear their movements and songs until eventually they will show themselves to you with no fear of harm.
As with nature as with the soul; crash your way through life, taking no time to connect with your inner self and you will feel nothing but pain as your soul hides in the shadows not knowing who you or your intentions are. The only way to get in touch with and be able to understand your emotions is to find a stillness of the mind, sit quietly still and patiently for a while and you will gradually be able to sense the presence of your soul.
There are many theories on how to get in touch with your inner self, to discover who you are and to bring your mind, body and soul into harmonious balance; but as with various religious beliefs they all boil down to simplicity, finding a place away from everyday life, to be still for as long as you can manage and drift inside of yourself. I do this through nature, others may find music or simple silence does the trick and I am not here to tell you the best method, only you can find that out for yourself. All I can do is to share my own experiences of nature with you so that you can explore that route if you wish, and that is what I hopefully do here thanks to Debra.
I think I have become closer to nature and in turn to my inner being as I have grown older; I used to go for long walks in the countryside which looking back at now were more like an army route march and to quote and old saying, ‘I saw but did not see.’ But nowadays I take leisurely strolls, often not even getting to my predetermined destination; I stop, look, listen, touch and smell the things around me so often that I find myself no more than a mile or two on my journey after a couple of hours, but I have experienced so much more than if I had marched ten or twelve.
Make time in your life to sit and sense everything about you, really listen to a bird singing, really listen to the breeze through the trees, really smell, feel and taste those herbs you use every day to cook with and gradually you and your soul will greet each other in harmony.
What sings to your soul? What is your passion? I talk to people every day, who are reaching into their hearts, to find the joy, the passion that they know lives inside of them. Giving up is easy. Anyone and everyone can do that, and most do. Check in with yourself for some honest answers. Listen to your heart. Be brave, live courageously by living the life you came here to live.
“The potential hidden within each of us is staggering. Shed the old layers. Devote yourself to something of value that sings to the passion in your soul. Now you become the master of your destiny.”
-Debra Oakland
People want to be happy. It’s that simple. It all starts with you, not “out there” in the world. There is nothing that will make you happy for long, or satisfy you, if you are not happy inside. Take some time to connect with what brings you joy. Happiness is infectious, joy expands only when you are ready to embrace it. Be a willing participant. Become the master of your destiny.
I don’t know if you have read my e-book “Living in Courage” available for free when you sign up for my monthly newsletter. I talk a great deal about putting labels on everything. We have become a society that engages in 5 very negative habits – criticism, condemnation, judgment, blame and gossip. It is time to take our stand, to take our “Will” back. Use your free will by choosing peace. Live in harmony in the present moment – from your center, or core. You can’t repress negativity, but you can make a choice to control it with your free will.
Make a date with yourself. Talk to yourself. What is coming up for you? Spend some time with yourself and let the negativity go. Release it by looking at your value system. Do you have any value in holding on to the frustration, rage, jealousy, resentment, limitation, loneliness or the desire to strike back?
Know that love is the true nature of your being, and fear is the counterfeit that wants to be who you are. Bring fear to zero. You get to choose not to let these negatives be a part of you, or to control any part of your life. When negative thoughts or feelings come up say, “No, this time I will hold peace, I choose peace. I will say yes to life and life will say yes to me.” Now you are using your free will to be greater than that self created emotion.
Power yourself up to live in courage. Everyone has a contribution to make on this earth. Climb out of the box. You are more than labels. Right, wrong, conservative, liberal, straight, gay and on it goes. We paint everything with insane labels (all judgment of self and others) which cripples our true identity. Make a choice to recreate your life into the life YOU deserve – An Absolutely Fabulous Life!
Life knows no boundaries, life is liberty. We are the only ones that limit ourselves. As children we never doubted the wonders of life available to us. Don’t you think it is time to get the magic back? Miracles wait for you to say YES to LIFE.
