The Courage Of Enthusiasm & It’s Rewards
April 3rd, 2009 | by Debra Oakland |Enthusiasm is very important for success in any endeavor. Mediocrity is easy. Achieving greatness takes different skills which require courage. These 2 quotes are a favorite of mine from Og Mandino.
~~Og Mandino~~
“Every memorable act in the history of the world is a triumph of enthusiasm. Nothing great was ever achieved without it because it gives any challenge or any occupation, no matter how frightening or difficult, a new meaning. Without enthusiasm you are doomed to a life of mediocrity but with it you can accomplish miracles.”
“I am here for a purpose and that purpose is to grow into a mountain, not to shrink to a grain of sand. Henceforth will I apply all my efforts to become the highest mountain of all and I will strain my potential until it cries for mercy.”

Enthusiasm is grounded in the Greek words En Theos, or In God. Through prayer and meditation, believers were ‘inspired’ by the Holy Spirit. By modern interpretation, enthusiasm exemplifies an affirmation of belief and a display of excitement toward one’s pursuit.
Courage is most definitely a requirement to look within ourselves, to find that valuable gift that only we possess, and then with divine inspiration deliver it to a thirsty, expectant world.
I am so grateful I chose to visit your blog, Debra. Your courage inspires me to step up. My losses seem almost trivial, but I understand that restoring joy after losing loved ones is a challenge we all face relative to who and where we are in our spiritual journey.
I rediscovered Og Mandino’s quote on ‘Purpose’ last year and quickly adopted it’s suggestion to explore potential and discover greatness. I do believe that will come through acts of courage and genuine enthusiasm.
