Haiti – Everyone Matters
February 15th, 2010 | by Debra Oakland |Each and every person is connected by a common bond. We are ONE. Everyone matters. This video aired during NBC’s coverage of the Opening Ceremony of the Vancouver Winter Olympics on Friday, February 12th 2010. The recording took place on February 1st, 2010, in the same studio as the original 25 years earlier. “We Are The World 25 For Haiti“, in which Jones and Richie serve as executive producers and producers with many other collaborators, to benefit the Haitian earthquake relief efforts and the rebuilding of Haiti.
The 25th Anniversary recording features over 80 artists and performers.
Many acts of courage have occurred since the earthquake in Haiti, and great generosity has been extended to the people there. The contributions have come in many forms. Like the song says, let’s make a better day, just you and me. Every day citizens – everybody pitching in. Now that is Living in Courage!

Hey Deb,
Everyone does matter. It is the recognition on a global front – that we are all humans and that we MUST all support one another with dignity, respect and love. It is that open heart and hand that will allow everyone the courage to flourish -regardless of the challenges that life presents. It is your passion and dedication to ensure – we all use our courage- that will help bring the essence of humanity to all. Much gratitude for that.
Nicole

SINCE THE DISASTER IN HAITI I HAVE EVEN MORE APPRECIATED THE COMFORTS THAT WE HAVE HERE IN AMERICA. IT MAKES ME EVEN MORE DETERMINED TO GIVE WHAT I CAN TO HELP HAITI AS LONG AS I CAN. IF ALL YOU CAN GIVE IS YOUR PRAYERS THAT IS GOOD TOO.

Thanks Sharon…we truly are blessed in so many ways. Today was the devastating earthquake in Chili. There are so many people around the world who need assistance, food, clothing, goodwill, prayers, etc..we can make a difference by giving in any way we can.

NICE TO HEAR FROM YOU DEBRA, I HAVE A DIFFERENT FEELING ABOUT THE BIG QUAKE TODAY AS THE INFASTRUTER WAS SO MUCH STRONGER AND THEY WERE SO MUCH BETTER PREPARED FOR IT. MY HEART STILL GOES OUT TO THEM , BUT THEY ARE SO MUCH BETTER OFF THAN HAITI. THE WORLD IS REALLY ROCK N ROLLIN. SEEMS TO BE A TIME OF A LOT OF CHANGES ON OUR PLANET.

Yes, you are right. There was not the amount of damage, but listed as one of the worst earthquakes ever recorded. Mother Earth is shaking things up. We have not respected her as a collective…..many changes, yes, and all badly needed.
