Will Smith Is My Courage Cheerleader

Wednesday, December 8th, 2010 by Debra Oakland

Will Smith is my courage cheerleader.  Watch this 10 minute video and I believe he may become yours as well.

Will says that “Your words and thoughts have power.”  I wholeheartedly agree.  He says he wants the world to be a better place because he was here.  He has done that.  He also says “If you are not making someone else’s life better, then you are wasting your time.  Your life will become better by making other lives better.” Wise words from a very wise soul who speaks with conviction and honesty.  This is a great video to watch if you feel you need some encouragement to overcome life’s biggest challenges.

This is a list of topics he covers in these interviews:

Shares his wisdom on life

Greatness exists in all of us

There is no shortcut to success

Lay one brick at a time

Focus on making a difference

Represent an idea

You have to believe in your plan

Nothing is realistic

Our thoughts are physical in the Universe

Attack you fears

Be willing to die for the truth

Protect your dream

Remaining Rooted To Our Core

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010 by Debra Oakland

As I sat at the beach recently contemplating life, growth and the New Year, a tree seemed to whisper my name. This beautiful tree that I sat before was sharing it’s wisdom about remaining rooted to the center of our core, as it remains rooted to the earth, connected to Mother Earth, to source, just as we are.

The branches that are rising up from the earth are bare, twisted and gnarled.  There is a feeling of this intense journey that it has been through, as we have been through in our lives.  Rising above are these beautiful branches, full of growth.  Leaves and flowers reach out north, east, west and south to the light, enjoying the sun, moon and stars. . Swaying with the wind and breeze, withstanding any challenge with dignity, grace and peace.  This tree just continues to flourish, growing in different directions following the natural path of it’s life, direction and source.

I feel this is a wise illustration of how we can live our lives in courage and joy, in a most natural organic way.  After all Mother Nature is our “Master Tutor!”  Freely providing her gifts and secrets for anyone seeking her wisdom and love.  I am grateful, very grateful for all Mother Earth has to offer.

My Definition of Courage

Tuesday, November 9th, 2010 by Debra Oakland

I was thinking about Courage. Huge subject, but this is what came to me while mulling it over. Courage is the will to act upon the strength and power within the Heart. Courage is not something you can have, it is something you become. To live a courageous life takes place in a person’s life when they allow the true essence of who they are to rise up and shine for all the world to see. Fearless of opinion. Those courageous individuals who are true to themselves, feel a powerful resolve that is unshakable. A true conviction of purpose to carry on in the face of any challenge. To stand in power of purpose is a pure point of courage, available to everyone who cares to utilize it in their life. The unfoldment brings forward the power alive within. This point of power has been diminished greatly and when awakened can shatter the fear of moving forward toward the intention or goal. Greatness arises from mediocrity. One or more lives are altered as awareness shifts to possibility and progress. Great is the union of courage and honor – a great gift within the heart of every human soul.

What is your definition of courage?  I would love to hear from you.

Here Is Your Life

Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010 by Debra Oakland

Frederick Buechner wrote “The grace of God means something like: Here is your life. You might never have been, but you are because the party wouldn’t have been complete without you.  Here is the world.  Beautiful and terrible things will happen.  Don’t be afraid.  I am with you.  Nothing can ever separate us.  It’s for you I created the Universe.  I love you.  There’s only one catch.  Like any other gift, the gift of grace can be yours only if you’ll reach out and take it.  Maybe being able to reach out and take it is a gift too.”

How often do we miss opportunities, relationships, partnership and all that life has to offer because we did not have the courage to reach out?  Like the gift of grace, it is our choice to live the life we have been given.  I hope you are enjoying co-creating with the Universe!  There is a whole world full of marvelous gifts to choose from.

Are You Tired Of Others Thinking For You?

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010 by Debra Oakland

Are you tired of people thinking for you?  It is exhausting, and leaves  you feeling unfulfilled.  At birth we were each endowed with the Secrets of the Universe.  Each one of us holds the key to our own destiny.  Learning to de-program the illusions presented to us from the outside world can be quite a task.  It takes vigilance, courage and determination.  Not only that, it needs to be done in love.  Are you kidding, you might ask?  After finding out about world domination, I have to love these people!  You couldn’t write better material.  It’s freaking genius…it is enough to drive people insane! Oh, wait, it has!

Do you consider yourself sane?  I seriously question all of our sanity. By allowing ourselves to be dragged into the quicksand of the outer world, we turn away from who we are.  Our true identity is taken from us bit by bit.  Over time, we don’t even realize what has happened and why our world is in such turmoil.  Who are you?  Why is that knowledge repressed?  The many are controlled by the few.  An entire population has been convinced that everything is under control, they want us to stick to the routine of daily life and keep on sleeping in the shadows.

“Humanity is now faced with a stark choice: Evolve or die. … If the structures of the human mind remain unchanged, we will always end up re-creating the same world, the same evils, the same dysfunction.”
— Eckhart Tolle

Courage, Action & Well Being

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010 by Debra Oakland

Courage is constancy under the most trying of circumstances and action at the moment when it is needed most.  This statement that is applicable to life in many ways.  Replace the word courage with love, harmony, encouragement, inspiration, or peace.  These are concentrated actions that can assist us in times of need.  When we do anything in life that requires these qualities, life improves.  Choose any word to add to the beginning of this statement that appeals to you and see how it fits.

Our world is based on well being.  When we allow this feeling to flow in it’s fullness, we feel very good.  Watch this inspiring video on well being!  You are the only one that holds the keys to your happiness, courage, love, abundance and all good things.

Healing Our Planet Together

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010 by Debra Oakland

There are challenges before us in the world that seem insurmountable.  Our education teaches us about the difficulties the world faces, the difficulties we face as a human race.  This affects every one of us.  Inspiration is key because it inspires us to take action, to stand up and face challenges.  We can’t accomplish healing our planet alone, but we can do it together. Each person needs to take responsibility for their visit here.  The Earth is fine, and will be here with or without us.  By harming our ability to live on the planet in a healthy way, we are destroying a great gift that has been shared with us.  This world is full of beauty and abundance. As we each take a stand for peace, love and unity our planet and our lives will return to the state of love we were meant to live in.

Courage is a quality that lives in every soul.  Living in courage is a journey.  How easy or rough that journey will be is up to you.  Everything you do has consequence, no exceptions.  Being vigilant each day of your intentions, is a beautiful way to move forward in peace.

I wish you peace, courage, love and unity.

How Was The Trip? A Story On Perspective

Monday, May 17th, 2010 by Debra Oakland

My friend Chris Cade shared this story recently and I want to share it with you.  I do not know the author, but love the wisdom his story bestows.  It’s all perspective!

One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family. On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, “How was the trip?”

“It was great, Dad.”
“Did you see how poor people live?” the father asked.
“Oh yeah,” said the son.
“So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?”, asked the father

The son answered:

“I saw that we have one dog and they had four.
We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end.
We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night.
Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.
We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight.
We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.
We buy our food, but they grow theirs.
We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them.”
The boy’s father was speechless. Then his son added…

“Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are.”

Dancing To The Tune Of Your Soul

Monday, May 10th, 2010 by Debra Oakland

Are you dancing rhythmically to the tune of your soul?  We all have a rhythm to our soul, through our breath, and the beating of our heart. Practice the art of being. Be in that space without doubt or fear. In this way, you remove the ego from your being-ness.  Allow love to permeate you.  This removes conflict between love and ego, which cannot co-exist in the same space at the same time.  The ego gets a bit serious and controlling.  Choose to make your “being time” fun, light and peaceful.  Become illuminated and remove the shadows.  It is more about allowing than chasing.  Go deep inside.

You never have to leave yourself to talk to your soul.  It is always right there with you. Home with you. There is no distance. Everything we need is already there for this journey called “LIFE.”  You may feel a stranger to parts of your soul.  Rea-quaint yourself with this deeper part of YOU, that can lead you perfectly.  This is your divine right! You are not helpless in this physical form.  You have all the assistance you need….a homecoming may be just the gift you need. A little courage, and a whole lot of love will take you there.
