Courage & Love Through Technology

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008 by Debra Oakland

Do you recognize that through technology (internet – cell phones) there is a quiet movement among people?  A movement towards peace.  Despite the collapse of many systems and the diversification of human destruction, there is a massive awakening.  People are becoming strengthened to face down the many challenges that are on the earth.  There are many movements happening. People are aligning with peace.  A quiet revolution has begun.  Women are taking back their power.  Men are learning to open their heart center. We are going to see more balance between the masculine and feminine.  A great healing will emerge in the next 3 years, even in the midst of what “seems” like a world in chaos.

We as a people cannot continue to damage Mother Earth and each other.  There is no more time for such nonsense.  We are waking up to the power we each own, which has never been outside of ourselves.  We are beginning to live from the inside out.  Living from the outside in has gotton us in quite a mess.  We are all family, each connected to the other.  I see people clinging to their tribes (family & friends) because it makes them feel safe in a world of change.  It takes great courage to love everyone, to embrace others in peace, to move into a place of non- judgment.

Sever from the mass consciousness and allow the unification of light and love to bring us back to peace. Love is the only answer.  Sometimes we just need to be reminded.

Talk About Courage! Talk About Cliff Young

Sunday, December 21st, 2008 by Debra Oakland

The Tortoise and the Hare

Cliff Young waving during ultra marathon

Cliff Young

All of the professional athletes knew that it took about 5 days to finish the race. In order to compete, one had to run about 18 hours a day and sleep the remaining 6 hours. The thing is, Cliff Young didn’t know that!

When the morning of the second day came, everyone was in for another surprise. Not only was Cliff still in the race, he had continued jogging all night.

Eventually Cliff was asked about his tactics for the rest of the race. To everyone’s disbelief, he claimed he would run straight through to the finish without sleeping.

Cliff kept running. Each night he came a little closer to the leading pack. By the final night, he had surpassed all of the young, world-class athletes. He was the first competitor to cross the finish line and he set a new course record.

When Cliff was awarded the winning prize of $10,000, he said he didn’t know there was a prize and insisted that he did not enter for the money. He ended up giving all of his winnings to several other runners, an act that endeared him to all of Australia.

Elite Feet has great articles about runners.

Debra’s Message From The Universe

Friday, December 19th, 2008 by Debra Oakland

I want to share my message from TUT .  I get a note from the universe every day – I love them.  This one is particularly wonderful in regard to how I see life.  You only have to look, listen and communicate with the greatest power in you where there has never been limitation.  Every aspect of our life will eventually lead us back to self.  Back to love.  Some sooner than others.  I prefer sooner, how about you?  And remember, never never never look back.

Debra Oakland @ Living in Courage

Oh, yes indeed, Debra, another holiday season is upon you, and so it is here, so I bet you’re wondering what I’d like as a present. Right?!

Well, since there’s already peace on earth (for those who look), since there’s already goodwill toward all (mine and yours for starters), and because Debra Oakland’s already in the world (took long enough), how about, if I may ask, we talk a little more often? You lean on me a bit more? You expect a few more miracles? And we never stop to look back?

Is that asking too much?

I’m there anyway,
The Universe

Be Courageous In Kindness

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008 by Debra Oakland

Be kind to people today.  Step outside of yourself a bit, no matter what is going on inside you.  When you are courageous and extend kindness to others, it feels incredibly delicious.  That kindness will find it’s way back to you every time.  Kindness is a great gift to give yourself and others.

I know that you have noticed when you are happy, the world seems happy.  When you are pissy and grumbly, the whole world seems the same.  What does that tell you?  Are you willing to come from a place of courage by extending kindness to others today?

Being courageous in kindness is far reaching.  It is a small step back to love.  For where there is discord or fear of any kind, there is simply not enough love.  Extending kindness is a bridge back to the heart.

Please come back and share your experiences as you spread kindness around today.  I extend my love to you.

Negative Ego vs Courage – What Will You Choose?

Friday, December 12th, 2008 by Debra Oakland

So here’s the deal. Our planet is in trouble, like never before. Maybe I should say people are in trouble. Out Mother Earth could shake us off like fleas. She has done it before and will do so again, unless we get ourselves headed in the right direction.
I am going to talk about the negative or altered ego, but first let’s think about what we need to do for ourselves. How about giving ourselves:
Willingness
Allowance &
Permission
to:
Accept
Acknowledge &
Welcome
An atmosphere of Desire & Fulfillment in our lives. In all the activities of our lives. You with me?

Your Intellect or Altered Ego stores information like a library. A very very large library of everything you have ever touched, seen, heard, tasted or smelled. Everything. The mental body is a massive filing system and the ego is the librarian.

When you watch horror movies, violence, the news, negative things on TV, read negative gossip magazines, or do anything repetitively, it gets inside you. Your intellect does not know the difference between what is on the screen outside of you or if you are a character in that film or TV show. When this goes to the extreme, your senses project this outward. This can affect people in a variety of ways. Some are so affected that they can’t tell what is real or not real, becoming unable to function in the world. There is evidence of this in every city in the world.

Many people are reactive. This is a road to strain, struggle, stress and fear. Reaction gives you no time. There is no solution at any time. Why am I talking about this? Because the altered negative ego loves to keep you under control. It is afraid you will kill it, so it fights very hard for power. When you start to get your life in balance, it fights harder. It turns up the volume, by trying to bring all sorts of things in from the intellect. It really does not know you are trying to bring it back into balance.

Think about responding, not reacting. Responding leaves time for you to make wise choices. To say “What is the best response to this situation I am in.” It is coming from a place of power. From your true self. Your courageous self.

Think of the altered or negative ego as chains in a link. The constant dialog that never stops in the perceptual mind (the altered ego’s playground.) These links are consistent – strong. When you start your spiritual journey, or a journey of self discovery, the negative ego get very busy trying to stop you by creating constant chatter and confusion. You second guess yourself.  When your mind is still and in the moment or you meditate with no thought, the links to the chain begin to weaken and break. One by one they break as you become more still, more peaceful. These gaps between thoughts collapses these chain links.

This is when the links break, that the true voice of power can be heard.  Your life changes.  You are the director, the architect of your life.  You have stopped the interference that has plaqued your life for as long as you can remember.  You become still, calm, confident, courageous and the great manifest master of your dreams and goals.

It is time for people to move into their power.  Back to love, for we really are all one.  Only in separation have we nearly destroyed this planet and each other.  Find your way back to love and you will have all the proof you need.

Are You Shopping For Love?

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008 by Debra Oakland

This is a little holiday story that I thought you might enjoy. I think that the whole idea around the holidays will change dramatically over the next few years. Less stuff, more people time. Maybe home made gifts, food, art, etc. Maybe just more love. What are you shopping for?

Shopping for Love
By: Author Unknown

I am flat broke from overspending at Christmas time. But I
need to go shopping again soon because I am completely out
of self-respect. I’ve said things I wish I could take back
and I am not feeling too good about myself.

I also want to exchange a carton of self righteousness for
an equal amount of humility. I hear that it is less
expensive and wears well, and while I’m at it I’m going to
check on tolerance and see if there is any available in my
size.

I must remember to try to match my patience with the little
I have left. My neighbor is loaded with it and it looks
awfully good on her. I was told the same department has a
repair shop for mending integrity. Mine has become frayed
around the edges from too much compromising. If I don’t get
it refurbished soon, there won’t be any left.

I almost forgot the most important thing of all –
compassion. If I see some-no matter what the color, size or
shape — I’m going to stock up heavily regardless of the
price. I have run out of it so many times and I always feel
ashamed when it happens.

I don’t know why it has taken me so long to get around to
shopping for these items. They don’t cost nearly as much as
some of the frivolous things I bought at Christmas time.
And I’ll get a lot more satisfaction from them.

Yes, I’m going shopping today and I can leave my checkbook
and credit cards at home! The things I’m looking for have
no price-tags. What a joy!

Failure – Courage – Failure – Courage

Monday, December 8th, 2008 by Debra Oakland

Have you ever failed at anything? If you haven’t, you’ve risked nothing. You have never lived. The people in this video failed again and again and yet??? They are household names to all of us. Why? They did not quit. They had courage, moving forward through all obstacles. What obstacles do you need to move through?

Never look back, ever. There is nothing (no-thing) there. It is all now in the present and out in front of you. Walk, talk, live and love in courage.

The lives of Abraham Lincoln, Lucille Ball, Ulysses S. Grant, The Beatles, Michael Jordan, Thomas Edison, Walt Disney and Michael Jordan were seen by some as failures. Very famous failures. Take some risks, for who knows where they will lead you.

Live Your Life Of Courage, Not Someone Else’s

Saturday, December 6th, 2008 by Debra Oakland

Imagine children doing genius activities.  Where does this come from? Some come in gifted, others work hard for what they achieve in life.  If we could only be so open to trying new things or break out of the boxes we place around ourselves.  Children are courageous, unafraid.  They explore by touching everything in site.  Looking at the world for the first time has to be such a wonderful experience that most of us soon forget as we grow up.  Children are great teachers of Living in Courage.  Sadly, far too often we conform to the experiences and advice of those we grow up with.  Tear down the walls of mediocrity.  Live your life of courage, not someone else’s.  You are as unique as your fingerprint.  There are no two alike.  When you make it a point to achieve greatness, you will be unstoppable.

Courage To Follow Your Heart & Intuition – Steve Job

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008 by Debra Oakland

My friend Marie Louise Steenbjerg sent me this quote about courage.  How much have we lost in our life that could have been ours yet we passed right by? I would say a great deal.  It takes conviction of purpose, living in courage with passion to follow our life’s path.  No one said it would be easy, that there would not be challenges.  Take any challenge and turn it into an opportunity.  Look behind the challenge to see, hear and feel what is really there for you. There are gifts you could not dream of to be found, when you listen to your inner voice.

Debra Oakland @ Living in Courage Online

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice.
And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.
~~~ Steve Job
